Transmission #001: The Overlay

The world is being overwritten. I’m building Helerion: a 1:1 3D reconstruction of the physical world using real-time GPS data. Your neighborhood isn’t just a place to live anymore; it’s a procedural battleground where the terrain beneath your feet matches the digital slope in-game.

The Carrier of Light

In Helerion, the sun does not rise. The world is naturally a lightless void. Survival depends entirely on Lux, a floating entity that follows your real-world coordinates and provides a radius of visibility.

The Icosahedron of Forces

The Icosahedron: Lux (the source) and the 12 Luminaries in perfect, pulsating balance.

Lux is orbited by 12 subordinates—the Luminaries—arranged in a perfect icosahedron. They maintain the balance of the world, but as a player, you can break that balance to harness their power through Equivalent Exchange.

The Law of Equivalent Exchange

A character limb turning into cosmic energy, flesh decaying into gray stone.
Equivalent Exchange: The consequence of debt. A limb replaces itself with cosmic charge, while the remaining flesh fails and decays.

To use these forces, you must sacrifice your humanity. Leveling up involves replacing your own limbs with cosmic constructs. If you fail to provide the necessary “mana” via mined materials, the icosahedron will claim your life force as debt.

Visualizing the Decay: An Artistic Evolution

Defining the look of a character who is slowly losing their humanity to cosmic forces took several iterations. Below is the progression of the Helerion protagonist—from the initial conceptual sketches to the final high-fidelity vision.

First Draft

Stage 1: The Blueprint

The first draft established the icosahedron logic and how specific colors map to the character's anatomy. This served as the mechanical map for the "Equivalent Exchange" system.

Second Draft

Stage 2: Adding the Charge

The second iteration focused on the "Electrical" nature of the Luminaries. Here, we see the transition from flesh to energy, with Lux casting deep, jagged shadows.

Final Version

Stage 3: The Final Void

Using AI enhancement, I was able to push the "Cosmic" textures to the extreme. This represents the final leveled-up state: a being of pure charge, barely tethered to the physical world.

The Patrols

Finally, there is the threat of the roads. AI entities patrol real-world asphalt coordinates. They are alerted by your light; if they catch you, the survival phase begins.

Development Roadmap

Helerion is expanding. Beyond the core survival mechanics, I’m integrating systems to make the world truly persistent:
